Looking Forward to the Beijing Olympic Games

Several days ago, I visited the water cube and witnessed a rehearsal contest on the synchronised swimming (or water ballet).

My own impression is as follows:

1. The security check is quite strict. No liquid is permitted. Everyone, including a plush dog in my son’s hand, is carefully examined.

2. The venue as well as point system is almost ready.

3. A lot of volunteers are ready to help people in need.

4. The audience are showing their respect to the athlete no matter which country they comes from.

No matter what happens in politics, I believe that China is making its best efforts to embrace the 2008 Olympic Games in its own way. The construction workers, the polices, the BOCOG, the volenteers, the citizens are doing their own parts. Yes, as a chinese citizen, residing in Beijing, I have to admit there are a lot of problems unsolved in my dear old, heavy-burdened country. However, there does not exist perfect, dustless, pure place on this planet. The value of Olympic Spirit is to help to make the world a better place.

China is an old country having its own traditions and values, some of them might be conflicting with the values of other countries. However, Olympic game is not a small party inside private clubs. The diversity of cultures provides an opportunity for the countries to learn from each other.

The Olympic Game Committee had chozen Beijing in 2000. As one of the 20,000,000 hosts, I experienced the gradual progress of this city. And I am looking forward to the game. I am ready to make my own efforts to make our guests a happy journey in Beijing from Aug. 8th to Aug. 24th, 2008.

We have a dream that every children who visits Olympic Spirit will be inspired to pursue their own chosen path, to be the best they can be. —from the olympic spirits website.
